ALRIGHTY WRITING HAS COMMENCED

i will not post blades absolute first story as it was made when i was 6, i don't remember most of it, what i do remember was that it was only little under a page long and not worth reading. I also don't consider that story canon as it has multiple problems it creates with later stories.

keep in mind all the stories i will write in this section are from memory, so the reason i wrote just as well when i was 11 as now is because i am re-writing them...although i was a fairly good writer at 11 as well...

Now then the first story i will write, will be blades first appearence i ever made outside of that original story. written in 2001, right after beating SA2, i present

Prolougue: a hero returns!

A dark thunderhead cloud rolled lazily across the sky, blocking out the

sun and causing an unnatural darkness over the city of station square. a

ways outside of the city was a small morgue, there sonic, amy, knuckles,

and tails, all sat dressed in black as the mortician buried their friend

shadow. a tear rolled down amy's cheek, and tails buried his face into

one of his soft tails. sonic comforted amy, "its alright, he died doing what

he knew was right" sonic said. "and when i go, i want to go the same

way!" sonic declared. "no sonic! don't die on me" amy said grabbing onto

him, but instead of his usual sttitude, he hugged her back, she needed it.

the mortician turned to them "you may stay as long as you wish" he said

and walked off. knuckles got up and walked over to shadows grave "he

was special, he was the first person who wasn't an echidna who could use

chaos's power" knuckles said "and for that he has my respect" he sat

back down. amy got up to say something next "when he left after i

convinced him to help, he said something about a promise...i hope he

was able to fulfill that promise" she said and sat back down. tails got up

next "he was brave, and strong, he wasn't always interested in the best

for everyone, but he never lied, and thats respectable" tails said. lastly

sonic stood. "he was a brave and powerful hedgehog, and he died to save

the ones he loved" he stammered a moment, choking back a

tear "sayonara, shadow the hedgehog" he finished. everyone stood to

leave. as they walked away though the ground suddenly rumbled. tails

looked back, then knuckles. sonic turned just in time to see a gloved

silver arm burst out of the ground. "shadow?!" sonic exclaimed. everyone

turned and ran back. another arm popped out, pulling at the dirt, the

ground suddenly exploded in a blast of energy, and shadow floated out of

it. "wow, i had no idea you all cared that much" he said with a slight

smile. "and i had no idea you had a sense of humor" sonic remarked.

shadow laughed, but stopped suddenly in a coughing fit, everyone tensed

up. shadow's silver gleam left as he turned back into normal shadow, he

fell, landing with a soft thud on the grass. tails ran up to his body. "he'll

be okay, but we have to get him to a hospital as soon as possible!" tails

said. "right, thats my job" sonic said. he walked up grabbing shadow and

slinging him over his back. he took off full sonic speed into the city. "think

he'll make it?" knuckles asked. "he survived a fall from space, i don't

think he couldn't make it if he tried" tails responded. At the hospital, they

got shadow a room, and he was diagnosed as "having severe exhaustion,

slight bruising, and a few fractured bones" the doctor explained. "but he'll

be okay right?" sonic asked. "oh yes, he'll be fine in no time." the doctor

said. "so shadows alive" sonic said to himself. "i'll have to smack him for

being reckless later" he joked with himself.

Across the city, and a good few hundred miles away, eggman was locked

in his invention chamber. he hit a red glowing button, followed by a green

one. he flicked a switch with an evil laugh. the dark chamber masked the

sinister smile. "sonic and those fools won't be able to handle what i have

cooked for them this time" he said to himself. suddenly one of his bee

badniks came to him. "what is it?" he asked "can't you see i'm

busy?". "but sir its important!" the bee said. "shadow is alive!" it said.

eggmans eyes widened, but then his sinister smile got even bigger. "thats

perfect..." he said, and began laughing maniacally. he then hit one more

silver button. "now leave me" he said to the bee. as it floated off he

looked at the three chambers in front of him. "soon, sonic, you will finally

fall" he promised.

when i made this one, it was very sonic heavy as it wasn't supposed to include blade, i remember now like it was yesterday though, while i thought up the story i started cleaning my room, and i found a rough picture of blade i had made a long long time ago, i decided to add him into the story, as just a tiny thing, but he became a bigger part of the story than i imagined he could have

Alrighty new chapter

Chapter 1: The challenge is set.

Sonic ran grinded down the stairs of city escape, enjoying the

harmonious sound his shoes made on the bright red pole. He crouched

picking up speed until the walls around him became a gray blur and the

stairs beneath him turned into a wave of shadows passing him. he saw

the end rushing at him, he grinned, jumping he grabed a red bar swinging

off onto the wall, he took off with a shot running along the wall. suddenly

a piece of dust from the nearby construction got in sonics eye, he

stumbled and tripped falling to the ground with a sharp thump. he opened

his eyes seeing only white. he reached up and took the paper coving his

eyes and flipping it over to see a bright red paper reading "Contest! TEST

YOUR STRENGTH!" in bold black letters. "what the?" sonic asked picking

himself up off the ground. he eyes followed the lines of the paper which

read. "tournement of hedgehogs, bring a team of three to station

square's sports arena, only hedgehogs (echidnas are also allowed) to

prove who is the best in the world". "the world huh?" sonic asked,

doubting whoever put up these posters put them all over the world. "well,

why not?" sonic said, "now where to find 2 teammates" he asked

himself. "knuckles can make one" he said, then snapped his fingers "and

shadow would be perfect for this kind of thing!" he yelled. with a grin he

crouched down, taking off at sonic speed kicking up the grass beneath

him. soon he was in the city, running past the blaring cars down the

nameless streets right to the St. Maria hospital. he ran up the stairs as

fast as he could, watching the elevator go up as slowly as it could, he

laughed. the tapping of his feet echoed through the corridors as he

climbed higher and higher, until finnally he hit the seventy-third floor. he

slowed to a walk, casually stepping through the door onto the floor. it was

a short walk down the halway before he reached room 335, room of

patient: shadow the hedgehog. the loud creak of the door announced his

arrival as he stepped inside. "shadow?" he asked in a whisper. the pale

blue curtain was drawn over the bed, covering sonics view. he pulled

back the curtain gently. "shadow?" he asked again. upon the bed shadow

sat, legs crossed, and hands together in an odd fashion, his eyes were

gently shut, and he remain completely motionless. "would you like

something?" shadow suddenly said, not moving anything but his

mouth. "shadow its me, sonic" sonic said. shadows eyes opened lazily

and he looked over to sonic. "how wonderful" he commented

sarcastically. "shadow, look" sonic said, handing him the flyer. shadow

read over it with a tired expression, he clearly still wanted to be

sleeping. "i'm going to go ahead and make some assumptions, and just

say yes, now leave me alone" shadow said handing the flyer back. sonic

thanked him and left. as the door closed behind him he bolted down the

corridor, making doctors papers fly off the clipboards. He suddenly

jumped as the corridor curved, smashing right through a window out the

side of the building. his feet touched down to the smooth surface of the

building, his feet becoming a blur of motion as he reached terminal

velocity. he hit the ground running, tearing up pavement as he flew down

the crowded streets. suddenly the city ended and sonic was on the

highway leading away from towns toward the mountains. in a few minutes

he was racing up the mountainside and back down it, he looked out over

the sea, instantly spotting angel island. he ran right straight toward the

sea, his feet splashing the water up as he hit it. he continued running

over the water, eyeing angel island as it slowly drew closer to him. He

jumped forward spinning, and brought his leg down upon the water in a

harsh kick, propelling him skyward, and onto the floating island. he

continued running, right through the thick bushes and close growing

trees. he reached the cavern leading into the mountain and didn't stop as

he dashed inside. moments later he was at the alter of the master

emerald. he skidded to a halt with a loud wail from his shoes. knuckles

looked down at him from the top of the altar. "quite an entrance" he

commented. "yea yea, hey knuckles, you wanna be in a tournement?"

sonic asked. "you came all this way to ask me that? no way, i gotta

protect the master emerald!" he said. "oh please, you just sit here twenty

four hours a day watching that thing, live a little!" sonic argued. "sonic

this duty is sacred i cannot simply throw it aside for a tournement."

knuckles said. sonic just stared at him. "knock it off sonic, you know that

won't work." knuckles said, sonic remained silent. knuckles tried staring

back, but he soon gave up. "oh alright" he agreed. "AWSOME!" sonic

said "now fly me the heck off this island!" sonic said. knuckles jumped

down from the altar, and they left off flying over the sea back to land,

and then the run back to the city. the tournement started in three days.

right, nice and finished. Crazy things to come in the next chapter (sadly no blade for a while, but don't worry, he'll get here.)

wewt! new chapter for lolz!..i mean..for you!

Chapter 2: training

Shadow levitated a slight bit, ripples of air made waves in the sheets

under him. he opened his eyes, the curtains around his bed slowly began

to open. "come in" he said with no trace of anyone around. sonic walked

through the door with a surprised look on his face. "how did you know?"

sonic asked. shadow motioned for him to be quiet with his finger. shadow

floated silently over the bed, then over the gleaming white tiles of the

floor. his feet touched down with a tiny squeak. "i'm training my chaos

powers" shadow said "and look, don't even need an emerald" shadow

said holding his hands out. "impressive" sonic scoffed. he walked over

and plopped down on the bed. "so is that all you've been doing here is

floating?" sonic asked. "no" shadow said, a hint of a smile formed on his

lips. "watch and observe, you may learn something" shadow said. "uh-

huh" sonic said unbelievingly, but watched lazily anyway. shadow raised a

hand, slowly bringing it around to the small bedside table where an empty

glass of water lay. sonic eyed the glass, then shadow, then the glass

again. A beam of iridescent emerald light burst from shadows palms,

eradicating the glass into nothing. sonic bolted upright "what was that!?"

he asked alarmed. "impressed?" shadow said with a smirk. "that was the

chaos blast, a concentrated beam of chaos energy" shadow

explained. "you have got to teach me that sometime!" sonic

said. "yea....maybe" shadow said sarcastically. "well, glad to see you're

preparing for the contest" sonic said. "yes speaking of that" shadow

said "i've been thinking, doesn't it seem a little suspicious?" shadow

asked. "what do ya mean?" sonic asked. "well, as far as i know, you me

and kncukles are the only hedgehogs and echidnas i know of" shadow

said "makes it kinda hard for us to be challenged." shadow said. "well, i

thought i was the only hedgehog till you popped up, but who knows,

maybe we'll be surprised again" sonic said. "good point, i felt the same

when i first met you." shadow agreed. "alright, well just making sure you

were better, i ought to go check on knuckles now" sonic said. "alright, i'll

be out by tommorow, so we can spare a bit" shadow said. "awsome, can't

wait!" sonic said, and left. he walked at a casual pace to the park across

the street. the crystaline fountain bubbled and spewed clear water, neat

trimmed bright green hedges sourouned the marble tile floor spreading to

the edges of the sidewalk. Sonic sat down on one of the multiple benches

and watched with a slightly amused smile at the bright red idiot on top of

the fountain. knuckles was on top of the fountains ordorning piece, the

water god chaos, punching it in the face. A small crowd had gathered

watching him, a few police already told him to get down, but he payed

them no mind. sonic watched for a full half hour as knuckles angrily beat

the statue into rubble. "who dared put a symbol of the hated god chaos in

such a beautiful place!" he raged on. sonic laughed, standing up he

walked over. "alright knuckle-head get down" sonic said. knuckles flew

down to him. "you can't go berserk whenever you see a statue of chaos."

sonic said "they are all over this town, you'll destroy half the city before

you get them all destroyed" sonic explained. "argh, fine" knuckles

spat. "so, you been training much?" sonic asked. "not any more so than

usual" knuckles admitted, "i don't much see the point, 2 days just isn't

enough time to get anything done." knuckles said. "yea i suppose you

have a point" sonic said. the crowd was still staring. "alright everyone,

nothin to see here" sonic said. a few people tried to get autographs, but

sonic grabbed knuckles, and they walked off. The sun hung lazily over

the baren desert plain that ran up to the mountainside, in the distance

one could see the figure of station square. "now then" sonic said

stratching his legs in his usual fashion. "lets see what you got" he

challenged knuckles. "i thought you agreed that training now would be

pointless?" knuckles said. "yea, i did" sonic said pulling his leg behind his

back to stretch "but now i've changed my mind" he said. knuckles face

faltered into a grimace. "fine" he said stretching his arms quickly. he

raised his fists. "alright, bring it on!" sonic said, he tapped his foot on the

ground. they stared at each other for a moment, then sonic took off at

knuckles, jumping into the air he dived at knuckles in a homing attack.

Knuckles raised his arms, swinging his arm he knocked sonic away and

onto the ground. knuckles dashed after him, rearing a fist back, and

throwing the punch with all his might. sonic took the punch square in the

face as he got up, sending him flying again into the hard red dirt. sonic

lifted himself on his hands, kicking into the air, he hit knuckles in the

chest, followed by a few rapid super speed punches, knuckles fell

backwards, kicking up dirt as he landed. knuckles jumped to his feet, his

face tightening into an expression of rage. knuckles punched the ground,

cracking it open, creating a small tremor that knocked sonic off his feet.

sonics eyes opened painfull, his head throbbed with pain. he saw

knuckles standing over him about to deliver another punch, sonics feet

lifted up underneath knuckles, kicking him up and over back into the dirt.

sonic scrambled up, jumping up he began to spin, he pulled out of the

spin with his heel coming crashing down. knuckles rolled out of the way

as sonics foot smashed into the ground, sending up a dirt cloud causing

all vision to be lost. sonic wildly punched at the red wall that clouded

around him. suddenly he made contact with the back of knuckles head.

out of no where a blast hit the ground, seperating the two. sonic looked

up to see shadow a short way off, next to him was tails. "while you two

went off idiotically to train, i got us some real help." shadow said. "and by

the way try not to kill each other before the tournemant, we still need a 3

man team. tails walked up to each of them. "i have been studying the

chaos emeralds" tails said, handing each of them a vile of multicolored

liquid. "these drinks will send chaos power through your entire body,

giving you a huge boost of energy" tails explained. "but don't use them

unless you absolutely need to" tails said "theres only one for each of you,

so save it for the last fight i suggest" tails said. "why can't you just make

more?" sonic asked. "well...i have my reasons" tails said. sonic just

shrugged, shadows eyes narrowed though. "anyhow good luck with the

tournement, i'll be rooting for you" tails said. "yea, for now lets go home"

sonic said.

Chapter 3: tournement day

Sonic tapped his foot impatiently as the bright sun beat down on him. "oh

c'mon" he said frustrated. the line he stood in stretched for what looked

like miles. knuckles, standing only a little way off, was punching at the air

in a practice-ful manner. shadow kept his cool looking around in a

nonchalant way, counting how many combatants who were in line. "hey

guys" shadow said. knuckles and sonic looked over. "does it bother you

at all that badniks seem to be the guards here" he said. sonic looked

around. hundreds of E-102's were walking around making sure

everything was calm and in order. "good point" sonic said. "you there"

shadow said pointing at an E-102. it walked over. "who is running this

event?" shadow asked. "doctor robotnik" it answered simply. shadows

eyes widened. "we shouldn't be here, this is obviously a trap." shadow

pointed out. "then we need to stay!" sonic said. "wha...why? are you an

idiot of some kind?" shadow asked. "no, we have to stop eggman, and

save all these other contestants from falling into his trap don't you see?"

he said. shadow nodded "you have a point there" shadow said, knowing if

they just told everyone to not enter, they would be ignored. "so then"

knuckles said. "we're just going to walts right into the trap, i mean c'mon,

saving everyone is one thing, but this is still a trap, and we could still get

caught in it" knuckles finished. shadow looked at him for a moment. "and

you were the smart one since when exactly?" shadow asked. sonic

concurred "yea, no one falls for a trap they see, its like falling in a giant

pit rull of spikes that you could see from a mile away and you just walked

up to it" sonic said. "i mean, are you gonna jump in, or just go around"

sonic said obviously. "you use some very twisted metaphors" shadow

noted. "yea, well its what i do" sonic said. long hours passed as sonic and

company slowly trudged through the line. eventually they reached a large

kiosk, behind the counter was shiny blue E-103. "never seen one of those

before" knuckles said, he hadn't been off the island for a

while. "welcome" it greeted them. like its predecessor E-102 gamma it

had feelings that the normal E-102 did not, which meant this was one of

eggmans elite robots. "team name please" he asked nicely

enough. "team sonic" sonic said eyeing his hands, no guns and no

transform module to turn into a gun, just hands. "right, and team

members names?" he asked writing team sonic down on the

paper. "sonic, knuckles and shadow" sonic said. "thank you, you're all

registered." the E-103 said. "tell me something" shadow demanded as the

others walked off. "what is your greek name. "i am alpha" it responded. "i

see you recognize the elite personality trait, it is a tad rare i suppose"

alpha said. "of course i'd expect nothing less from shadow, the greatest

invention" alpha praised. "yes well..." shadow said, thinking of it that way

he was like alphas older brother. shadow walked off without saying

anything else. "that worries me" shadow said. "the new model?" sonic

asked. "no big deal, gamma was friendly, eggman puts a huge risk in

making the ones with free will super powerful, cause theres always a

chance they join us." sonic said. "i never met gamma" shadow said. "yea,

he...well its a long story" sonic said. "let's get back to my house, the

tourney starts tommorow." sonic said. "race ya" shadow challenged

innocently. the two hedgehogs took off in a cloud of dust, leaving one

very sad echidna behind.

"sir, sonic has joined the tournement" and E-102 said as he entered a

large factory like room where his brethren were being made. "excellent"

a voice said back, twisted and hell-bent, a gleaming black robot floated

over, eyes glowing red lighting up the area around him. a short way

behind him alpha stood with his arms crossed. "go and inform robotnik"

the black robot said. "yes...Beta" it said and marched off.

When i first made this one, i considered sonic adventure 1 just as much as 2 when i was writing it, so you'll also see characters like this popping up, Beta for those of you who don't know, was the original E-101, and had been destroyed by his younger sibling gamma, Beta however i thought was always stronger, and in my book he was and always will be a very bad-ass character, so he plays a large part in this story

CHAPTER 4!

OMG TOOK LONG ENOUGH DIDN'T I?

Chapter 4: The first match

A roaring crowd filled the stadium with laughter and cheer, warm smells

of food wafted around the square. A tile arena was in the center of the

square of audience seating. "HHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOO STATION

SQUARE!" Alpha shouted out to the excited crowd. A loud cheer roared

back at him. "alright folks, lets lay down some rules" alpha said. "the

fighting starts, any weapons and any styles are allowed, and the fight

continues until an opponent is knocked out,has surrendered, or is dead."

alpha declared. "it will be 3v3 battle unless the 2 teams agree on

something else" alpha said. "now without further ado, lets bring out our

first 2 teams!" alpha said. A purple hedgehog, followed by 2 silver

echidnas came out onto the arena floor, across from them, an all black

echidna team came out to meet them. Inside the waiting building far off,

sonic relaxed in a plush chair, watching the big screen t.v playing the

fight live. Shadow sat in the corner a ways off, meditating, and knuckles

was punching one of the many punching bags that had been placed

around the room. A small bar was in the far corner, a staircase went

behind it to the contestents rooms. a few others were sitting on the

multiple chairs watching the T.V. "so, who are these guys?" someone

asked. "small time, just a few kids who want some fame" another person

responded. "i will enjoy killing them" another added. No one took it

seriously. Sonic watched as the white echidnas took the advantage of the

fight, already having taken out the purple hedgehog. one of the silver

echidnas suddenly pulled out a dagger, he slashed felling one of the white

echidnas, he turned and slashed again, but the white echidna stepped out

of the way, throwing a punch at the silver one. the other 2 echidnas were

having a boxing match, throwing hooks and jabs in a flurry of fists. soon

the match was over, the white echidnas victorious, they pulled their fallen

team-mate with them, he would be fine with some rest. "so then" sonic

said, "thats it?" he asked. "its always a lot more eventful when its you

down there" someone said. "yea, whatever" sonic said with a sigh, he

wished to be back outside running around, enjoying life. he looked up to

the cieling. a tiny glint of light from a camera shined down at him. sonic

looked back down as soon as he saw it. "shadow" he said. "what?"

shadow said clearly annoyed. "theres cameras" sonic whispered. "yea,

and?" shadow asked. sonic thought about it, it really didn't make a

difference, they were probably to make sure no one fought outside of the

arena. The large T.V suddenly showed 2 names on the screen. Team

Sonic VS Team Darkness. "alright!" sonic said, jumping up excitedly. he

looked over as shadow got up and knuckles walked over to him. The 3 of

them watched as 3 figures with long flowing capes, and hoods on walked

out of the room. "that must be them." shadow pointed out. "thanks

captain obvious" sonic said, and they walked out after.

The sun shone brightly in sonics eyes as he walked out onto the stadium.

He looked across the tile, which was much larger than the T.V portrayed,

and saw the 3 hooded figures, the wind lightly blowing their

capes. "alright" sonic said. Alpha raised his hand, the sun gleamed off of

it. "GO!" he said bringing his hand down. The hooded figures wasted no

time, one of them raised his hand, a dark energy flowing around his

fingertips, it formed into a ball launching after sonic and friends. The 3

jumped back as the ball exploded just in front of them. "we are the

masters of chaos energy, our god chaos will be pleased at the sacrifice

we are about to give him" the lead robed one said in a deep voice. "in his

name" the other 2 said together. "really?" shadow said, a slight rare

smirk forming on his face. "i take that as a challenge" shadow said

stepping forward. "sonic, leave these fools to me" he said. sonic

shrugged, and looked to knuckles, knuckles nodded in understanding and

they both stood there, ready to spring in when needed. "MORTAL! YOU

SENTENCE YOURSELF TO DEATH!" the lead robed man said, running

forward, two balls of dark energy forming in his hands. his hood slipped

off to reveal a Blue hedgehog, whose hair flew straight up and toward the

sky in amny spikes, odd black markings formed around his eyes, looking

like 2 curved knives shooting out from the top and bottom of his

eyesockets, which housed harrowing red eyes. "DIE!" he said throwing

one of the energy balls forward. shadow raised a hand, knocking the ball

away. he scowled, dissapearing with a blue flash of light. "what the" the

blue hedgehog said, coming to a halt. shadow appeared in the air behind

him, falling down with a hard punch to the back of the hedgehogs skull.

He fell motionless to the floor. "1 down" shadow said, his eyes tracing

across the ground to the 2 hooded figures who were left. The two joined

together, facing across from each other and began muttering

incantations. A giant ball of dark energy formed between them, they both

ran forward hurling it at shadow. Shadow watched the ball coming, he

raised his hand, his eyes closed slowly. A beam flew from his hands

piercing the ball through the center, and blowing the two hooded figures

to the side. He ran forward in an instant, giving a grip to each of their

pressure points, causing them to lose conciousness. sonic looked at him

boredly. "you're not gonna let us have any fun are you?" he asked. "i

might" shadow said haughtilly. The three left the stage to the cheers of

the crowd.

Blue hedgehog with red eyes...the design that would one day be blues design, although just through quills, face design, and marking, him and the leader of the robed figures looked completely different.

Chapter 5: a new opponent

The sun burst over the far mountains as it peaked up, lightly washing

through the window enveloping sonic and friends in its warmth. Sonic

opened his eyes slowly rolling over on his bed, he fell off crashing to the

floor with his bedsheets draping over him. "ow" he said getting up slowly.

Sonic scanned the room, seeing shadow meditating in one corner, and

knuckles still out cold on his bed. "took you long enough to wake up"

shadow said, opening only his right eye to look at sonic. Sonic waved his

hand nonchalantly. "did you catch the last match last night?" shadow

asked getting up, his eyes still shut. "nah, i zonked, straight to bed" sonic

said stretching out a bit. "well, i saw it" shadow said, walking over sitting

on his bed. "whats the big deal?" sonic asked. "i saw a team..." shadow

paused "they were amazing...like nothing i had ever seen, their fastest

was faster than you, their strongest was stronger than knuckles and a

very particular one had chaos powers that could match my own" shadow

said. sonic thought about it for a moment, he didn't seem to absorb it

though. "i guess i'll have to see them myself" he said shrugging. sonic

looked over to knuckles, who was still asleep, watching his chest slowly

rise and fall with every breath he took, his gazse shifted back to

shadow. "why are your eyes closed?" sonic asked finally. "i'm practicing

see with chaos sight" shadow replied "its working farely well, i have to

train my chaos powers to their fullest to face this new team." shadow

commented. sonics eyes widened for a moment, this team must be really

good, shadow was acting more serious than usual. "well, we may as well

go to the stadium, matches start at 8" sonic said. His eyes traced over

the floor back to knuckles. sonic picked up a pillow from his bed, threw it

once in his hand, then chucked it at knuckles head. Knuckles awoke with

a snort. "wha...?" he asked looking around. "stadium, now" sonic said,

walking toward the door, shadow followed behind him. knuckles jumped

from the bed and followed after the 2 hedgehogs.

"SALUTATIONS STATION SQUARE!" Alpha shouted, the beautiful hiss of

thousands of roaring fans came back at him. "today we have some

excellent face-off's, the ever famous team sonic, known for its one hit

wonder of allowing one member to take down an entire team, Against the

Purity" alpha reported. "and those new scary upcomers team poison,

who's mastery over weapons has given them a deadly rep, versus the

powerful team ultimatum." Alpha said. "yep, todays fights are certainly

gonna be something else, so lets get it on with our first match!" Alpha

said pointing to the arena entrance. Team sonic walked out, a certain

square of the crowd screamed out "we love you shadow!" followed with

other multiple screams. Shadow blushed waving to his fans. Behind them,

the three white echidnas came marching out together, both teams got up

on the arena. "Ready?" alpha said looking between them. "GO!" he

shouted jumping through the air off the arena. The three echidnas all

burst forward at once, swirling in and out of each other gracefully. One

jumped into the air high above the others, knuckles flew up to meet him.

Suddenly the other two were in the air as well, and all 3 punched him,

sending him flying to the ground hitting with a loud thud. Shadows eyes

narrowed, he hurled himself into the air, kicking the first echidna in the

stomach, turning he roundhoused a echidna over the side of the face, but

as he turned to punch the last one, he felt a smashing blow to the side of

his face, sending him back down to earth. Sonic grunted in anger,

jumping up, he swirled in the air, faster and faster till he was a blurred

circle, he let one leg out straight, and his heel smashed into the echidnas

skull, knocking him out instantly. As sonic landed he was grabbed from

behind by one of the echidnas shadow had hit, who was now up and back

on his feet. The other echidna snuck around front of sonic, sending punch

after punch into sonics stomach. unfortunately for the 2 echidnas shadow

was back on his feet as well, he lifted a hand, blasting the echidna

punching sonic to the other side of the arena. The echidna holding sonic

bashed sonic over the head knocking him out, and turned to face shadow.

The echidna ran forward, he was extremely fast for an echidna, but not

as fast as shadow. Shadows shoes flared to life, he skated around in

circles around the echidna. The echidna followed shadow with his eyes,

Suddenly his eyes stopped following as shadow screeched to a halt. The

echidna punched, his fist flying by shadows face, missing by at least a

foot. shadow raised a hand, pushing the echidna over onto the ground.

suddenly a sharp pain shot through his back as he toppled to the ground.

As shadow flipped over he saw the burning eyes of the last echidna,

holding a giant boulder over his head. Suddenly though, the boulder

exploded, knuckles had punched through it, his fist still sailing down right

into the last echidnas skull. The echidna fell over, knuckles stood

triumphantly. Shadow got up, dusting himself off "not bad..." he said

grudgingly. "WE HAVE OUR WINNERS!" Alpha called out. Knuckles

grabbed sonic, slinging him over his back, and they walked off the arena,

the screams of the crowd echoing in their ears.

Knuckles and Shadow sat in the plush chairs at the waiting house, sonic

was propped up in in his chair, sleeping lightly. Shadow watched intently

as alpha announced the next fight. "and now...FOR THE FIGHT WE'VE

BEEN WAITING FOR!" Alpha said "TEAM POISON VERSUS TEAM

ULTIMATUM!" Alpha called out. 3 tribal looking green hedgehogs came

out, feathers adorned their hair, one had a warhammer, another had a

blow dart gun, and the last had a long blade. On the other side, a black

hedgehog, with quills that spiked up, then back down over his face, a

silver hedgehog, whose hair covered his left eye, and a green echidna,

with hip length, spiky quills. shadows eyes widened. "Thats them,

knuckles wake up sonic, he has to see this!" shadow said. Knuckles

walked over and shook sonic, but he was still knocked out. "forget it, just

watch these guys yourself" shadow said, knuckles sat back

down. "Ready?" the televised alpha asked. "GO!" he shouted, jumping out

of the arena. The hedgehog with the blowdarts instantly shot 3, one at

each member of the team. In an instant, the black hedgehog had caught

the dart coming at him. the silver hedgehog had lifted his palm, stopping

his dart dead with a shockwave of chaos energy. What was truly

impressive was the green hedgehog, who just allowed the dart to hit

him. "RAAAAAA!" the green hedgehog yelled, the blowdart hedgehog

smiled, then grimaced as he realised it was a warcry, not a cry of pain.

The green echidna ran forward, punching the blowdart hedgehog in the

face, sending him flying into the wall behind, crushing his body against

the wall in a pulpy dead mess. The warhammer hedgehog wasted no time

taking the echidna by surprise, smashing his hammer into the back of the

echidnas skull. the echidna didn't even flinch as it hit him. The

warhammer hedgehogs face shifted into one of sheer terror as the

echidna turned to face him. The sword hedgehog snuck up behind the

echidna to score a killing stab, but suddenly was stopped. He blinked only

to see the black hedgehog suddenly in front of him. The sword hedghogs

eyes widened, he jumped back, then thrusted his sword at the

blackhedgehog. The hedghog grabbed his echidna friend, pulling them

both out of the way of the blade, as it flew through the air, stabbing right

through the warhammer hedgehog. Before the sword hedghog could even

show a reaction to what had happened, he was obliterated by a beam of

iridescent chaos energy from the silver hedgehog, who hadn't moved the

entire fight. Team ultimatum began leaving the stage before the winner

had even been announced, the crowd was absolutely silent. Only after

they were gone the crowd burst out into a roarus

cheer. "that...was...amazing" knuckles said. "yea" shadow echoed, they

both looked over to the still sleeping sonic. "and they're out to kill too"

shadow added. "we best be on guard" he finished, staring at the T.V

WOOOOO....yea....and its a long chapter too....SO ENJOY IT!

Chapter 6: the plan revealed

The soft buzzing of a dim light kept the small waiting house lit and warm,

Sonic breathed in and out peacefully in the soft chair he had been sitting

in since his match was over, knuckles too had fallen softly asleep in his

chair as apposed to going back to the hotel. Only shadow stay awake,

fatigue wearing at him, he blinked his eyes slowly before pressing the

play button one more time, he had been watching the two matches of

team ultimatum for the past several hours. Shadow struggled to keep his

eyes open, not to blink so he wouldn't miss even a moment. He watched

the first match play out, surprisingly like team sonics first match only one

person handled everything, but it was the black hedgehog, who

resembled sonics powers as opposed to the silver one, who's powers

were like shadows. He watched the black hedgehog run up to a pink

hedgehog, one punch to the face and she was out for the count, he then

hurled himself into the air as the yellow hedgehog ran over. The black

one landed feet first smashing the yellow hedgehog to the ground as well.

Lastly he dissapeared, reapearing behind the final member, an orange

hedgehog and bringing her down with one shot as well. Shadow rewound

to when the hedgehog dissapeared. "thats not chaos control" shadow

said "he's just that fast" he said, his hand went to his chin and stroked it

gently. he watched again as the black hedgehog dissapeared. he rewound

and tried slow motion. he watched once more, the hedgehog dissapeared,

but insted of completely, he became a black blur that in a flash was

behind the hedgehog. Shadows eyes widened as he rewound one more

time and played it again. his eyes traced the hedgehogs motion like a

hawk and his mouth stood agape. "he's not just that fast" shadow said. he

observed the hedgehog turned into a shadow, that crept along the ground

unable to be seen or hit...unless someone looked down and saw it in

time. Shadow really wished he could see the other two in as much action

as this, he quickly switched to the other tape. This time he watched the

green echidna. Knuckles drowsily awoke and walked over. "don't you

ever go to sleep?" he asked walking over, but didn't wait for the

answer "what are you doing?" he asked. "watching" shadow replied. "for

what?" knuckles asked. "those darts were poisonous, very very

poisonous" shadow said. "one of them hit that green echidna dead on,

and he was absolutely fine." shadow said, wacthing the blwodarter

realeasing the darts. The flew through the air, quite fast even in slow

motion. He watched the black hedgehog catch his bullet, his hand didn't

turn into shadow like he expected though. "so he is fast even on his own"

shadow said. knuckles looked between him and the screen. he then

watched as the silver hedgehog stopped his dart, nothing new just chaos

power, then he leaned forward a bit as the last dart headed at the green

echidna. his eyes slowly opened as he watched the end of the dart

puncture in, then bounce out. He rewound quickly and watched again as it

bounced out. "the end of the dart is bent..." he said as he watched the

bent dart fell to the ground. he then noticed the dart was still full of its

poison. "no way" shadow said "he can't possibly...what are his bones

made of?!" shadow asked. it easily explained someone who had such

dense bones could punch someone hard enough to kill them, it was all

shadow needed to see. he got up and walked for the door. "where are

you going?" knuckles asked. "out...i'll be back soon" shadow said, and

walked off before knuckles could say any more. shadow walked down the

cool dark corridors of the contestant house, but he wasn't interested in

anything here. He opened the door to a fresh wave of cool night air. he

slipped into the shadows of the building, looking across to the large base

of command for the arena staff, many E-102's guarded it. he watched as

one passed and another came around taking its place. He scoffed, "chaos

control" he whispered, everything lost it's color, the world slowed to a

stop. Shadow ran forward right past the E-102. as he got close to the

building though a sudden blast of chaos energy sent him flying

back. "what the..." shadow asked. he walked forward, resting his hand on

the emerald green sheild. suddenly the world returned to normal and he

fell through the sheild. "a sheild against chaos powers" shadow said, one

eyebrow raising slightly. he brushed off the bits of dirt from his fur

entering the building. shadow walked forward allowing chaos sight to flow

from him. Like a wave of sonar it shot out telling him of every object

from the tiniest electric plug, to the many badniks guarding the base.

Shadow shyed away from a hallway a badnik was walking down heading

toward the computer room. "where is that damn computer room?" he

asked silently sliding down each hallway, the soft rumble of his shoes

being his only trace. Suddenly he heard voices, he came to a stop. "good

good, so everything goes as planned?" he heard eggman say. "yes,

nothing can stop it now, even if sonic and his friends found out it is to

late." he heard alpha add. "we must be careful though, being to brash this

early could lead to our demise" he heard a third robotic, but unknown

voice say. "beta you worry to much, at this point sonic will be killed it will

all be legal and everything will go on as planned, everyone who entered

the contest signed the waver for their life" alpha said. "yes, and even if

they ran away we can kill them and just say it happened in the

competition." eggman added. "legally?" shadow asked himself. "why

would the doctor want to do anything legally...or why would he care?" he

asked himself. "and then!" eggman said. "ROBOTNIK FOR PRESIDENT!"

the 3 said together laughing. Shadows eyes dialated, he backed away

from the door slowly. "then he'll legally be alowed to do as he pleases"

shadow said to himself, his hand grabbing his heart as it beat faster and

faster. he slumped against a door. he could hear the continued murmers

of eggman and his robots but he paid no attention, he just stared blankly

in to space his eyes clouding over. Suddenly a few patrolling badniks

came around the corner. seeing a defenseless looking shadow. 2 E-102's

and an E-103, marched up to shadow. the E-102's pointed their gun arms

at shadow. The E-103 pulled a handgun out of the holster by his side, and

a sword off of his back. Shadow suddenly jumped up flipping over the E-

102's he kicked the E-103 as it fell he ripped the sword from its hand

cleaving it's head off. he turned on a heel, jumping back up he thrust the

sword through the left E-102's torso, bringing it out, he spun on his toe

tearing the other right in half. suddenly heard the rattle of the doorknob

being turned. "chaos control!" he said, everything lost its color once

again, and he ran off the way he came. bursting out the door just as it

wore off. He was then faced with the guard from outside. The E-103

pulled out its own sword. shadow dissapeared, reapearing behind the E-

103 he slashed his sword down through it, leaving the sword he ran back

to the contestants shelter.

Blargh...i wanted that swordfight to be longer, but i don't have the time... i'll probably remake it later...

yes i put in some STH things for funniness, but the sword thing was mine, making me the first really recorded person to have shadow use a weapon...what have i done!?

Shadows eye twitched involuntarily. "its not that big of a deal" sonic said.

Shadow shot him a glare and stared off for a bit. "we're going to die

sonic, don't you understand? we're not strong enough to take on those

monsters! The doctor probably made them for the specific purpose of

killing us!" shadow said. Knuckles was tapping his foot thinking. "i think

we could take them" knuckles said crossing his arms. "fool!" shadow

said "think about it, the black hedgehogs as fast as sonic with the able to

morph into shadows, the green one is as strong as you with the bone

density of titanium, and the silver one is..." shadow thought for a

moment, he hadn't seen the silver one in its fullest. "anyway, the doctor

has obviously taken data from us to create new versions of us, then

added something to make them even better" Shadow said. Sonic looked

at him, still skeptical. "knuckles is right, we can take them, we've faced

worse" sonic said. "besides, you're the ultimate lifeform arn't you?" sonic

challenged. "yes, but you two arn't" shadow said back. Sonic

shrugged, "i'm still gonna fight, besides its the only way to save the

world" sonic said. "fine..." shadow said "in that case i gotta go, i'll be back

soon" shadow said, turning and leaving. Sonic looked at knuckles, "don't

worry he said he'd be back" knuckles pointed out. "yea, he better be

back in the next 5 seconds" sonic said pointing at the giant T.V which

read "Team sonic Vs. Team Blood". Kncukles grimaced "we've faced

tougher" knuckles said, trying to convince himself more than sonic.

sonic shielded his eyes from the blistering sun as he walked out to the

stadium, across from him he saw 3 blood red hedgehogs, their fur twisted

and matted with the smell of dried blood surrounding them. "today we

have the killer team blood Vs the crowd favorite, Team sonic!" Alpha

called out. then looked back at the teams "sonic, shadow is not with you"

alpha pointed out. "really? I wouldn't have guessed" sonic said "we elect

to fight with 2 members" he added crossing his arms. Alpha

shrugged "this surely will be an interesting fight!" he called out to the

cheer of the crowd. "ready?" he asked the two teams "GO!" alpha yelled

jumping out of the arena. one of the hedgehogs looked up, his eyes were

amber and glaring powerfully. The hedgehog ran forward, pulling a

dagger from behind him. he threw it at sonic, then pulled out 4 more.

Sonic jumped over the knife, flipping once and landing. he looked up to

see 3 knives flying thorugh the air at him, he rolled out of the way. 'wait'

sonic thought as he rolled 'he had 4 knives!' sonic thought, his eyes flying

open. He stopped rolling just to see the knife heading for his face.

Suddenly it clanked to the ground as knuckles hit it down. the second

hedgehog ran forward, pulling out a gun, he loaded it and fired 3 shots.

Knuckles dropped to the ground as the bullets shot over his head.

Knuckles ran forward, smacking the gun out of the hedgehogs hand. The

hedgehog stared at him angrily with piercing violet eyes. Knuckles

punched him square in the jaw, sending him toppling over his heels, and

falling off the side of the arena. Knuckles looked at the remaining two

hedgehogs. Sonic got up next to him. "i'll take the one on the right" sonic

said, staring at the hedgehog who held knives in his fingers, like talons.

Sonic ran forward, kicking a knife away as it came at him. Sonic turned

into a ball rolling along the ground. He ripped up bits of arena as he

sailed at the knife wielding hedgehog. 3 knives bounced harmlessly off of

his spikes. the hedgehog was rolled over by sonic, pierced by his razor

sharp spikes he lay unconscious. Knuckles had run at his opponent, only

to find the hedgehog pulling a sickle from behind him. He whipped the

sickle out as it seperated into a chain, wrapping around knuckles.

Knuckles yelled out as the sickle pierced into his side. suddenly the

tension was gone as knuckles looked to see sonic had taken the

hedgehog down. Knuckles winced as he pulled out the sickle. "if i can

take that, i think i can take that green guy" knuckles said with a grin.

Sonic rolled his eyes as they left the arena.

Its short and its horribly written, honestly i'm really sorry guys...

and now the moment you've all waited for...the first time blade was introduced...evar...

Chapter 7: a true challenge

The warm, salty smell of fresh baked popcorn wafted over the intense

crowd as they watched down to Team sonic. The blue headgehog ran a

hand through his curls, glancing over to the red echidna who was

punching the air boredly. Across from both of them, a familiar black

hedgehog had finally returned, and at the far end of the arena was no

one. Alpha looked nerously around "sorry everyone, listen if...." Alpha

looked down to the scrolling many names of teams and schedules and

plans in the small screen on his wrist. "Team Red, doesn't show up in the

next 5 minutes then we'll call the match a forfeit. Sonic sighed

heavily. "so shadow what exactly did you go out to get?" Sonic asked. "i

will reveal it when the time comes for it to be needed" Shadow responded

sitting down and going into a meditative stance. Alpha watched his watch

slowly counting down the seconds, If his eyes could show emotion they

would most certainly be extreme anger. "2 minutes" Alpha yelled out

after a bit of tense waiting. soon, a loud chattering pulled around the

entire crowd. Shadow suddenly opened his eyes, "guys do you hear

that?" he asked quietly. Sonic listened but couldn't discern any voices

from each other. "no, what is it?" sonic asked. "well, i just heard someone

say that team red only us-" he was suddenly cut off by alpha "And here

they are Team Red!" Alpha declared. Team sonic looked across the arena

to see one red hedgehog walking toward them. He had long red quills that

resembled an echidnas, wearing a black shirt and white tie, along with a

ripped dirty pair of jeans, a sword hung off of his side. he stood a few

inches taller than sonic, and looked much more well muscled, a chill ran

down sonic's spine at his site. "team red, you only have one contestant"

Alpha said. "my other two were killed in the last fight, sorry, I shall fight

alone" The crimson hedgehog said. Sonics eyes dilated, as the hedgehog

spoke sonic knew this would be no ordinary challenger. "hey!" sonic

called over "what's your name?" he asked. The crimson hedgehog looked

him straight in the eye, radiant saphire blue piercing eyes which bore into

sonics very soul, and replied "Blade". Sonic locked the glare, matching it

with all his might, blade smirked at the site of a strong fighter, sonic

smirked back. "guys, i'd like to fight him alone, back me up if i need it"

sonic said. Sonic steped forward stretching his legs. "Ready?" Alpha

asked. "Go!" Alpha said jumping out of the arena. "I do warn you" Blade

began to say closing his eyes "I am trained in multi-" He was cut off as

sonic punched him across the face. "that was uncalled for" Blade said,

getting up. Blade pulled his sword from its sheathe, Sonic took a step

back cautiously. Blade plunged the sword into the ground, using it to lift

himself back up. He wiped a small line of blood from his jaw and pulled

back into a fighting stance. Talk time was over. Sonic ran at him, jabbing

at blades face. Blades hand flew up in a blur, a metal brace under his

sleeve sent a shock of pain through sonics arm. He stepped back

swinging another punch around. Blade dodged down, slamming his palms

to the ground he lifted himself on his arms and swung his legs up, kicking

sonic in the face, pushing him into the air into a harsh landing on the

ground. Sonic got up to see blade assuming another stance. Blade

initiated the attack running forward at sonic, he leapt into the air. Sonic

brought his arms up to defend his face, he felt a flurry of repeated kicks

pushing him back. One kick broke his defense and smashed into his face.

He hit the ground hard, and opened his eyes slowly looking up to

knuckles and shadow. "you guys can jump in any time" he said weakly.

Shadow rolled his eyes, and knuckles grinned. Knuckles ran forward with

all his speed, he pushed all his weight and force into one punch at blades

face. Blade stepped forward at him, swinging his hands around knuckles

arms, he grabbed him and chucked him back, turning and slamming his

elbow down into the small of knuckles back. Knuckles fell convulsing to

the ground, wraithing and reaching at his back. "sonic, he knows some

form of martial arts, you have no chance, allow me" Shadow said

stepping forward. he pulled into the exact same form that blade was

already in. The two circled, once, then twice. Blade narrowed his eyes

and ran at shadow. Shadow tensed himself watching blade intensely.

blade suddenly pulled into a signature hedgehog spin, bowling shadow

right over. blade got back up sliding, and ran back at the fallen shadow.

shadow looked up just to be kicked hard in the face, rolling over he lay

motionless on the floor. Blade turned back to Sonic. Sonic looked to

knuckles who was just getting up, and back to the still laying shadow.

Sonic looked back to knuckles, who was looking at him, silently they

agreed on a plan. Sonic jumped up kicking at blade, Knuckles punched at

blades back. Blade dropped to the ground again, Sonic and knuckles

attacks both collided off each other. Blade raised punching at Sonic, lifting

his other arm to block a punch from knuckles. Sonic took the hit and fell

to the floor, blade jumped into the air, spinning and kicking knuckles in

the face. Suddenly blade was blasted harshly in the back, sending him

spinning and sprawling to the ground. Shadow stood holding a chaos

emerald. "they did say any weapon was allowed" he said, lowering the

emerald. Blade picked himself up. "good trick, my turn" he said raising

his hands. A crack of thunder and a flash of lightning brought two

identical copies of blade into existance. Blade pointed at shadow, and his

clones rushed at him. Shadow blasted both of them into oblivion without

even flinching. Blade smirked, raising his hand he snapped a finger.

Within seconds the entirety of the arena was filled with clones of blade,

each running at shadow with full force. They clamoured over shadow,

crushing him under their combined strength. "CHAOS BLAST!" suddenly

rung out from the bottom of the pile-up. A brilliant blood red light sent the

clones to their oblivion, leaving shadow facing blade. Blade crossed his

arms and scowled. "I hate it when i have to try" Blade said slightly

annoyed. Shadow launched another beam of chaos energy. Blade lifted

his hand, a bolt of blue lightning shot forth, tearing through the chaos

beam right into shadow, blasting him to the ground. Blade sighed lightly,

his hand raising and twirling the bang that came jutting over his eye. "so,

is the fight over yet?" he asked. he saw Sonic still getting up, and

Knuckles barely standing, and the uncouncious, possibly dead shadow.

Blade flashed his eyes a bit and ran a hand through his hair. "you all

have to much fight in you, and not enough action, you're boring me"

Blade said frowning. "if there is anything i despise more its a tedious

battle" blade explained slowly massaging his temples. "man... if i haven't

won yet who knows how long it will take" blade said, lifting one of his

sleeves to look at a wristwatch. "and i am a VERY busy person... i don't

think this tournement benefits me anyway" blade said considering the

prospect. Sonic stared at him unbelievingly, he was going to give up for

something that stupid? "yea, see i already got 3 missions on back call,

this little vacations been fun, but its time to go" Blade said. "but before i

go can i ask you something?" he asked grabbing his sword. "yes?" sonic

asked. "do you know who, sonic the hedgehog is?" blade asked. "yea,

thats me" sonic said back. Blades eyes opened wide. "huh" blade said

lifting his sword slowly. "guess i don't have to leave after all then, you're

head just got a big price on it" he said pointing his sword at sonic. "so

sorry, i did enjoy meeting you, but now you must die, its all business, I

hope you understand" blade said. he pulled back decisevely into a

forceful stance. "goodbye"

Blade ran like a bat out of hell, sword gleaming in the midday light. He

jumped over sonic, landing with grace and style on the balls of his feet.

He turned swingning in one motion at sonics open back. The sword cut

clean through, blade frowned as he sheathed his sword. "i hate it when its

too easy..." blade said. Suddenly the sonic he had cut in half dissapeared.

Blade's eyes flashed as a searing pain suddenly formed on the back of

his head. Blade fell forward, hitting the ground with his hands he flipped

back up turning to face sonic. "fast one arn't you?" blade asked with a

small laugh. Blade redrew his sword taking his stance again. Sonic's face

hardened with determination as he ran again at blade. Blade swung at

sonic, sonic launched up kicking the blade back down, and following with

another kick into blades face. Sonic got cocky though, as he landed he

punched at blade while he was recoiling, but to sonics misfortune blade's

sword whirled up and cut right through sonic's hand, his middle and ring

finger drooped to each respective side. Sonic screamed in pain, falling

back and rolling on the floor. Suddenly shadow was over him. "Chaos

heal!" he said. Suddenly the fleshe of sonic hand began to weave itself

back together, his bones mending, all that was left was a long rip in his

signiture gloves. Shadow faced blade, who was back up and in the

game. "move black hedgehog, i have no quarrel with you" Blade said

justfully. "yes, well i have a quarrel with you, so prepare for defeat!"

Shadow challenged, a blade of energy forming around the chaos

emerald, and becoming part of his hand. "I don't have time for this" blade

snarled. He ran forward, his blade enveloping in deep blue elecricity. The

two blade's of energy collided sending sparks everywhere. "last time i

didn't know you could use electricity, this time i'm prepared" shadow

warned with a smirk, blade scowled pushing shadow back with a forceful

swing. "prepared, maybe, doesn't mean you'll win though!" blade

challenged. He flicked a glance at knuckles and then at sonic, finally his

eyes rested on shadow. He ran at shadow sword pointed forward, shadow

braced back, ready for anything. Blade brought his sword down, shadow

easily blocked the attack, but his eyes widened as he watched what

happened next. Almost like in slow motion from a bad movie, blade used

the momentum of his swing to flip over shadow, soaring through the air

he reached knuckles, kicking knuckles in the face propelled him toward

sonic, who stared in disbelief as Blade's sword easily pierced through

sonic's chest with a sickening sliding sound. Time returned to normal as

blade pulled his sword out. "well that was fun" blade said sheathing his

sword. "anyhow my jobs done, see you all later" He called walking away

calmly as though he'd never even been there. Shadow stared for a

moment in disbelief as sonics blood began to pool around him. Shadow

glanced down to the chaos emerald in his hand, and back to sonic. He

glared across to where the red hedgehog had been but now he was gone.

Shadow walked over to Sonic, knuckles was frozen in dibelief. "only one

chance at this" Shadow said. he raised the chaos emerald, "CHAOS

HEAL!" he yelled. A blinding emerald light flared blinding the audience,

when it was gone sonic's wound was healed, but he and shadow lay

unconcious on the ground. Knuckles walked over slowly, the two

hedgehogs were still breathing. He sighed as Alpha screamed to the

crowd "WE HAVE OUR WINNERS!" knuckles certainly didn't feel like a

winner.

Chapter 8: knuckles's proving grounds

A pale glow from the overcast sky lit one very nervous red echidnas fur

as he stared across the long marble tiled arena to see 3 hedgehogs

staring back at him. Knuckles glanced back to sonic and shadow, who

were still unconcious as a stone, and hadn't woken up since their last

match yesterday. "man, whatever shadow did certainly took a lot out of

them" Knuckles said, then flicked his gaze to the hedgehogs. The leader

was a very proper looking fellow, suit, tie, tophat, and even a monocle to

top it off, he wore a navy blue rapier that matched his quills. Behind him

was the opposite, a naked golden hedgehog with a large club and a dull

look on his face. The last of the three had nothing distinguishing about

him except for his ash grey fur. Knuckles slammed his fists together,

eyeing each back and forth, deciding which to go for first. Alpha stared at

the mismatch with an obvious amount of glee. "Ready?" he asked.

Knuckles wanted to say no. "Go!" Alpha yelled jumping out of the ring.

Knuckles watched in horror as all three of the other team rushed him. His

eyes darted between them unsure who to attack or what to do.The classy

hedgehog drew his rapier, thrusting at knuckles. Knuckles slammed the

blade down with a well aimed punch, turning just in time to block the club

coming at his head. he jumped up, looking down upon the gold hedgehog

he threw a punch full of the ancient power granted to him to protect the

master emerald. His fist exploded in a fit of fire singeing the hedgehog

and sending him well out of conciousness. He flipped around to see the

point of a rapier coming at his face. He ducked under it, only to be

smached in the back by the surprisingly strong fist of the grey hedgehog.

Knuckles jumped at the grey hedgehog just in time to dodge a slash from

the rapier. Knuckles punched down at the grey hedgehog, only to find in

his surprise that his fist was caught with ease by the hegdehog. Knuckles

hit the ground, and fell to one knee as the hedgehog began crushing his

hand. knuckles instinctively swung his free arm around behind him,

snapping the rapier's point off and into it's masters face. Knuckles got

back up to his feet, slamming his open hand into the open hand of the

hedgehog in a fierce grapple. The hedgehog suddenly lifted knuckles off

of his feet, swinging him around and throwing him into the screaming

crowd. Knuckle's head throbbed as tons of fans grabbed him up into the

air, and gently threw him back into the arena. Knuckles stood woozily for

a bit, swaying lightly side to side, then suddenly came to his senses as

the hedgehog he had originally thought the least of was closing in on him,

fist raised. Knuckles dodged to the side in a the hair of a second it took

for the hedgehog to reach him. The grey one's fist slammed into the

stands, lodging deep inside. The hedgehog pulled his fist out with ease

slowly turning his head to look at knuckles. A twisted smile formed on the

grey one's mouth as he ran forward again, but this time knuckles refused

to go on the defensive. Knuckles ran forward, ducking down as a fist flew

over his head, and rising up slamming his fist into the hedgehogs jaw in

one of the best uppercuts he had ever given. To Knuckles's dismay, by

the time he had landed the hedgehog was already back up and on his

feet. Knuckles focused, a huge feeling built up inside him, a glowing pink

aura formed around him, swirling greater and greater, kicking up a great

wind that sent a bolt of shock down his opponents spine. knuckles smiled,

unbeknownst to sonic and shadow, he had more control over chaos

energy than either of them. His fists glew with power as he landed

hundreds of lightning fast punches in seconds on the poor unsuspecting

hedgehog. The hedgehog swayed, then toppled over himself as all of his

ribs suddenly broke in his chest. Knuckles smirked as his aura faded, he

turned to see shadow had finally come to, and was staring at him in

disbelief. Knuckles walked over to him triumphantly. "looks like i'm

master of the chaos energy now" he gloated. Shadow gave a short

laugh. "yep, brawn over brains came through for me there!" knuckles

continued. Shadow's face suddenly hardened, his hand flew up and a

small blast sent knuckles reeling back. "don't give yourself to much

credit" Shadow said. Knuckles rubbed his head sorely. They both looked

to sonic as Alpha announced them winners. The shot worried glances to

each other, then picked him up and walked off.

Chapter 9: the end approaching

1 day had passed, the tournement had gotten to a point where not

everyone fought everyday, today was one of team sonic's off days. And it

was lucky for them, as in the crumpled bedsheets of the contestants hotel

lied a barely breathing blue hedgehog. Shadow paced back and forth

shooting a glance over to sonic every now and then. Knuckles was

kneeled over at the end of the bed looking for any signs of life from his

friend. "why not use chaos heal?" he quickly asked shadow. "I don't know

if i want to risk exposing someones body to chaos energy 3 times in only

2 days, especially while they are recovering from the last time." shadow

said. "why not?" knuckles asked, slightly annoyed. "3 reasons" shadow

said stopping, his eyes lightly closing. "1, I need the amount of energy

from my own self that is equal to the amount of energy he would need to

become healed, I don't know how badly he's hurt inside so i can't make

that judgement call, otherwise i would die" Shadow explained. "2, I need

to know exactly where the wound is otherwise i can't aim the chaos

energy in the spot that needs healing, imagine lazer eye surgery, but the

eye is in the inside of the person" Shadow sighed. "and 3, like i said

before i don't know how many times i can submit ones body to that kind

of intense direct chaos energy, I didn't intend on using it on him even

twice, but the situation was dire, i'm amazed he came out as well as he

did, probably only because he has had past experience with chaos

energy" shadow explained. Knuckles frowned a bit and looks at sonic with

anguish glitering in his eyes. "ya know, ever since i met sonic i always

wanted to have him in a situation like this so i could finally claim myself

the victor, and the better of us two" knuckles explained. "but time past,

He grew on me and i lost those thoughts, that and sonic has gotten so

much stronger i doubt i'll ever be able to beat him fairly again...now i just

hope he gets better." knuckles said. Shadow sighed and looked to

knuckles with what appeared to be sympathy. Knuckles was slightly taken

aback but a smile formed to his lips. "when i met sonic my only purpose

was to kill him and everyone else...things have changed so much, but it

was he who re-taught me what it meant to have compassion for other

beings" shadow said. "even if they are lesser than me" he added with a

smirk. Knuckles almost laughed, "you haven't changed enough

apperantly" knuckles joked. Shadow rolled his eyes. They both looked

back to sonic. "ya know...if anyone were listening in on us...they'd

probably think we were gay" knuckles pointed out. Shadow blinked at

him. "Well... its a good thing we're not!" shadow yelled, more toward the

door to anyone listening than to knuckles. Knuckles gave a short

laugh. "what's so funny?" shadow asked. "oh, just how being gay seems

to create that reaction, as a guardian i won't ever find love, gay or

straight so i don't have to worry about it!" knuckles said triumphantly. "oh

yea? what about that rouge girl?" shadow questioned innocently. Knuckles

face flushed. he turned so shadow could not see him. Shadow smiled

openly "come now, you wouldn't have anything you're hiding?" he

asked. "well uhh... I...umm, she's good looking i suppose." knuckles

admited. Shadow laughed, "that and she probably has made a few guest

apperences in porn magazines." shadow joked cruelly. "hey, come on,

just cause she's pretty doesn't mean she's a slut!" knuckles challenged.

shadow smirked. "aww have a hit a nerve?" he asked innocently. "yea,

and you're gonna get hit pretty soon!" knuckles said angrily. shadow

began to chuckle, knuckles relaxed and joined him. Suddenly they both

stopped as they heard a noise outside. footsteps walked through the

hallway outside of the room, stopping outside their door. Shadow tensed

as his chaos sense told him who it was. The door knob turned with a

small creak, and in walked a silver hedgehog. knuckles got up fists

raised, shadow grabbed his chaos emerald off the bedside table. The

silver hedgehog smiled raising its hand as a sign to stop. "please, I come

in peace" he said walking over to them. He raised his hand over sonic,

shadow and knuckles watched in amazement as his hand glew red, and

sonic opened his eyes slowly. The silver hedgehog turned to leave, but

stopped at the door. "just to let you know, shadow, since i know you're

wondering, I am turner, the green one is keria, and the black one is

sefras, our mission is indeed to kill you in the tournement, the reason i

saved sonic is because I'd hate to know someone who wasn't us killed

him." turner said almost boredly. then walked out of the door, closing it

behind him. Knuckles and shadow sat silently unsure of what to make of

it, and sonic was still silent even though he was now completely

awake. "so...his power is...to copy my chaos powers...and with even

more precision than i had with them...amazing" Shadow said

amazed. "tommorow is the semi-finals" knuckles had just realised. "who

are we up against?" he asked. "isn't it obvious, why would turner choose

now to heal sonic... it's us" shadow explained near breathless. "and it will

be a most interesting fight indeed." shadow said and smirked.

right...and i litterally mean tommorow, I'll be writing straight to the end of the book! look forward to it

Chapter 10:The semi-finals begin

Knuckles buckled his boots on, glancing over to shadow, who had just

finished polishing his chaos emerald. Sonic was simply stretching as he

always did, he glanced out to the arena, the bright sun shining down on

the arena glared back up at them. "now then" shadow said reaching into

a pouch by his bed "use these only when you feel you need them" he said

throwing them the glowing tubes of liquid that tails had given them. sonic

grabbed his and put it away, knuckles stared at his for a

moment. "something wrong?" shadow asked tucking his

away. "yea...where exactly do you guys keep these, cause..ya know i'm

not exactly wearing anything" knuckles said slightly confused. shadow

and sonic looked at each other and gave a short laugh, then walked out

of the room. "hey.. come on guys i'm serious...GUYS!" knuckles yelled

running out of the room after them

the 3 combatants came forward onto the stage staring with venom in

their eyes they stared across to the 3 evil abominations they had to stop.

Shadow clenched his fists tight, looking over to sonic they had already

discussed strategies. "what if we all attacked who we're good against, i

attack knuckles clone, you attack my clone and knuckles takes you on."

sonic had suggested. "won't work, they have extra powers our normal

forms don't, not to mention i don't think knuckles could beat me anyway"

Shadow said, much to knuckles dismay. they had decided to stick with

their own copies. "team captains forward!" Alpha yelled. The crowds

roarus cheer fell on the def ears of sonic as he walked toward sefras. "so

how do you want to do this?" sefras asked, calmly but not bored. "this is

my chance" sonic thought. "how about 1 on 1's, me Vs you, knuckles Vs.

keria and Etc." sonic proposed. Sefras thought about it. "okay why not."

Sefras said with a smirk, turning on his heel and heading toward his

team. Sonic headed back, flicking a gaze over his shoulder he saw them

all laughing. sonic felt like a stone had dropped in his chest. Alpha looked

to the crowd. "and now the fight you've all been waiting for! The

astounding team sonic Vs. the deadly Team ultimatum!" Alpha yelled

out. "ready?" he asked, Sefras got ready to run just as Sonic did. "GO!"

Alpha yelled, jumping out of the arena just in time to avoid the two blue

blurs running at each other. they clashed in the middle of the arena,

bouncing off each other they flung to the sides, running back for another

pass. Suddenly Sefras turned into shadow rushing along the ground and

popping up behind sonic. Sonic turned kicking only to swing his foot

uselessly through the air as Sefras turned back into shadows. He jumped

up from the ground punching Sonic in the back. Sonic fell forward, only to

catch himself, swinging around he caught Sefras by surprise with a kick

to his chest, lifting him up and over Sonic and down into the ground.

When sonic gaped as Sefras was back on his feet in no time. he threw his

arms out, they transformed into shadowy tendrils of darkness, which

gripped Sonic, squeezing the life out of him. He struggled against the

force, but it only got tighter. He exhaled as panic gripped his senses like

an iron fist. He glanced around, helplessly shooting a glance to knuckles

and shadow. He stopped struggling as his vision began to fade. suddenly

an idea stuck into his head. He lunged his face at one of the tendrils biting

it with all his might, a sickeningly squishy sensation in his mouth, as it

spewed a liquid he could only guess was blood. He heard Sefras scream

as he pulled his arms back. Sonic spat as his vision returned to him and

he faced Sefras who was rubbing his arms defensively. Sefras turned

back into shadows flying at Sonic. Sonic pulled into a ball shooting over

the shadow of Sefras, it let out a shiver as he passed. He got up with a

skid to see Sefras staring him down, absolute rage in his eyes. He ran at

Sonic again fists raised. Sonic matched him throwing a punch at Sefras's

face. Sefras ducked leaving only a whisp of him behind, throwing an

uppercut at sonic. Sonic took it rolling onto his back. he flipped over as

Sefras ran at him, his back spikes up he flexed them out as far as he

could. Sefras saw the trick and jumped as to not hit the spike pit sonic

had become, Suddenly a green flash exploded underneath sonic and the

muffled words "sonic wind" floated up to Sefras. His eyes widened as a

huge gust of wind shoved him down, impaling him upon Sonics spikes,

Sonic could feel Sefras's fresh blood dripping down his back. Sonic got

up, Sefras fell off him, Dead. Sonic walked back to his team, breathing

heavily. Knuckles took his place walking forward. A furious looking Keria

met him. Knuckles raised his fists, Keria didn't follow. Knuckles wasn't

about to waste the chance, he ran forward full speed Throwing his fist

with all his might at Kerias face. It connected perfectly, A giant explosion

of knuckles chaos energy threw Keria through the air into the ground a

little ways away. Keria got up, his eyes rolling into the back of his

head. "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR

RRRRRRWWWWWWWWWW!" he yelled angrily running forward. "oh god

have mercy" knuckles said backpeddling wildly as Keria threw punch

after punch at him. Knuckles dodged to one side, sticking out his foot he

tripped Keria onto the floor. He jumped into the air. "DRILL PUNCH!" he

yelled, rushing back toward the ground with unnatural speed, drilling into

Keria's back. Keria screamed out but the drill wouldn't break his skin, his

bones were to tough. Knuckles added energy and small explosions began

to ensue with every turn he drilled in. Knuckles couldn't keep it up, he fell

off to Keria's side. They both lay there, barely breathing, the crowd

tensed watching who would get up first. Keria was that person, slowly he

got up, walking over to knuckles he picked him up by the neck. Keria

drew back a punch as knuckles began to come too. Keria smiled

menacingly. Knuckles eyes flew open, but then closed as he smirked.

Keria's face formed to confusion as he saw this, then into pain as he fell

over on the floor, clutching his crotch-region, A huge "OOOOOOOOHHHH"

of shared pain echoed through the crowd as knuckles landed the kick

below the belt of the poor creature. Knuckles Raised his fist, Bringing it

down again right at Keria's temple. He died instantly. Knuckles walked

back, sonic was shaking his head at him. shadow began to walk out. "The

other two won by dumb luck i will not be so lucky" he said staring into the

eyes of his silver adversary. They both just stood there in the middle of

the arena, not moving a muscle, but inside their minds a fierce battle

raged. They fought on an arena a thousand times the one they stood on

now, stretching out to the horizon. Both flew around each other creating a

small tornado, shooting chaos beams at each other, only for the others

chaos beam to hit theirs and explode in mid-air. Suddenly they both

dissapeared, re-appearing on the ground throwing punches and kicks in a

flurry of motion untrackable by the human eye. almost like a dance they

flipped and rolled around each other, kicking and punching at every

chance they could get, around them multiple other forms of them came

forth fighting each other with the same intensity. both chaos blasted in

the same instant, throwing the other back. Shadow stopped and floated

down to the ground as Turner hit it hard. "I guess i've learned a few

things since you've been cloned" Shadow taunted. He flew forward with

reckless abandon as Turner got up. A charge of chaos energy gripped in

his hand, Shadow flung his arm forward at turner's face. It connected

with a giant explosion that flung turner far off over the horizon. Back in

the real world Turner fell over motionless. Shadow walked over to him,

lifting his palm up he chaos blasted him into oblivion. "we won?" sonic

asked. "that was easy...." he said almost dissapointed.

This isn't the end i'm just gonna take a little break, more soon

Suddenly the ground began to shake violently, tossing Team sonic onto

the floor. A loud roar of "NO!" rang out from the earth itself. Suddenly the

Arena split in two with a loud hiss. Gasps of shock and horror rang out

through the crowd. Suddenly with a loud scream the crowd ran for their

lives to the exit, as from the center of the arena a giant dragon-esque

robot pulled itself out from the ground. One fore-arm crushed into the

seats were the fans were only moments before, the loud woosh of two

robotic wings drowned out the noise around them. Sonic stared up to the

creature, eyes wide with fear. The dragons chest had 6 chaos emeralds

embedded in it, in it's forehead Eggman sat behind the controls. a small

army of badniks were crawling from secret opening's coming from all

over the arena. "theres to many, we'll never be able to take them all on

ourselves" shadow said. "who said you were alone?" asked a voice from

seemingly no where, suddenly the leader of the black robed gang was

next to them charging chaos energy. "yea, don't go abouts thinking

you're truly all alone" the leader of the white echidna team said his team

right behind him. Sonic smiled, Eggman couldn't have picked a worse

place to fight. Suddenly the dragon's head whipped over to sonic's

direction. It opened its mechanical mouth and a jetstream of flames burst

at sonic. Sonic dived to one side, sadly just as the white hedgehog team

had run in the direct path of the flame. Suddenly a Red blur flew past

them, a gleam of silver and the whirlwind of a twirling sword stopped the

fire in its path, and there stood blade. "hehehe" he chuckled lightly "looks

like i should have finished the job, very sloppy of me" blade critiqued his

work. "alas, you're lucky though, Eggman was the third head with a price

on it on my list" Blade explained. The robed figure was shooting dark

energy at the E-102's keeping them occupied. The white echidna team

had taken it upon themselves to fight the E-103's coming from the other

side of the stadium. but amidst the chaos 2 robots stood out above the

others, A black and silver floating robot, known best as Beta, and the

ever familiar Alpha. "sonic, you and me can take this dragon, shadow and

knuckles should fight Alpha and that other robot!" Blade said. "good idea,

you heard him guys" sonic said, and knuckles and shadow ran toward the

robots and Sonic and blade turned to the mighty dragon. Its tail thrashed

through the air, destroying one of the higher towers of the arena. "were

is its weak spot do you imagine?" sonic asked. "dunno, but if you can't

find an opening" blade said lifting his sword up. "MAKE ONE!" he yelled

out, jumping up at the dragon, he swung down through it's chest. "it had

no effect!" sonic complained. as blade fell he looked up to see the hole

patching itself. "great" blade said sarcastically. "I got a plan!" he suddenly

said jumping back to sonic's side. "I'll make a cut then you use your

homing attack on the opening i created" Blade suggested. "alright, we'll

give it a try." sonic said, and they both ran at the dragon. Across the

arena from them, knuckles and Shadow had just begun their fight against

Beta and Alpha. Alpha had drawn a claymore length sword from his back.

he swung it at knuckles, who nimbly caught it swinging alpha around

behind him. Immediately Beta had gone after shadow, swinging a fist

down at Shadow. Shadow side-stepped launching a chaos beam at Beta.

beta flew high into the sky, launching down a flurry of missiles in a trail of

smoke at Shadow. Shadow raised a barrier of chaos energy, the missiles

exploded harmlessly as they collided with it. Shadow burst forward, his

boots lighting up so he flew into the air after Beta. Shadow kicked beta in

the face, flipping back, and dodging to the side just in time to avoid a

high powered lazer. Another beam came at him, he raised his palm

countering it with his own. The two beams struggled against each other,

sparks of energy flying off their colliding point. down on the ground

knuckles had been fighting fist to fist with Alpha, he jumped over alpha,

grabbing one of his legs, swinging him around he chucked him into the

air, just as shadow and Beta had fired their blasts. In moments he hit the

beam and was obliterated with an inhuman scream. Knuckles hurled

himself into the air, Beta saw him though, firing a laser from his free

hand he sent knuckles sprawling to the ground. he turned his second

laser to his first, doubling its power he overpowered Shadow, sending him

to the ground as well.

Edit: ALRIGHT TIME TO FINISH THIS!

Shadow jumped back to his feet, charging a blast between his hands. he

suddenly was shot down by a misfired laser. he hit the ground, and was

shot again, the fire wasn't random, the 3 white echidnas had been

defeated, the leader of the robed group was trying to pull double time,

and failing. Meanwhile Sonic was attacking futilely at the dragon as blade

had gone off to help the robed hedgehog. Shadow's mind flowed over

with plans and strategies, moist useless, som unable to be used because

he couldn't tell anyone else of them, and 1 that seemed slightly probable.

He pulled out his chaos emerald, lifting it high. "Chaos Control!" he

shouted. Everyone slowed to a stop, the gray color of the world tookover

once again. He ran at the dragon, his boots pushing all the jets they

could. He jumped up, landing on the frozen blades sword, then launched

off at the dragon. He landed on its head, looking into the doctors gloating

smile. Shadow ran down the dragons back over onto its chest, quickly

blasting the chaos emeralds out of their sockets and onto the ground

below. Shadow smiled, and suddenly everything got its color back and

was moving. Shadow grimaced he had underestimated the time chaos

control could last, and the giant claw coming at him told him he'd pay for

it. The air was forced out of his lungs as the claw gripped around him. He

struggled but to no avail, the claw only gripped tighter, his vision began

to blur. Sonic blinked and the chaos emeralds were clattering to the

ground in front of him. He smirked wildly, grabbing the emeralds in his

arms. they swirled around him, light begining to shine forth from them as

sonic summoned their powers. He glew bright, his quills stood up on end,

and then turned golden an aura forming around him. His red eyes

gleemed as he looked up to the dragon. "you're mine now!" he yelled

flying up at the dragon. Sonic blew through the dragons arm forcing it to

drop shadow. He turned to face the dragon in mid-air. Eggman laughed, a

giant tube protruded from the chest of the dragon, sucking up the 7

unguarded chaos emeralds. "no need to put these to waste, I'd hate any

of your friends to join you in super form" he said, the 7 chaos emerald

fitting themselves in the sockets of his dragon. It flew into the air

matching sonic. The dragons mouth opened, firing a huge fireball at

sonic. Sonic's eyes narrowed, a smirk forming on his lips, he burst

through the fire toward the Dragon. The Dragon's tail whipped up,

knocking Sonic away. The 7 emeralds glew, and a giant laser shot out,

blowing sonic farther away. Sonic ambled through the air, obviously

finnally taking some damage. A blast came from the ground, shadow and

the robed leader were firing up at the dragon, Blade was taking out

hundreds of badniks with sword and lightning. Sonic smirked, feeling back

in control he launched himself at the dragon again. Another fireball came

at him, he dodged under it. The tail came up at him again, but was shot

away by Shadow and his new friend. Sonic flew like a maniac into the

chest of the beast, stopping dead as he hit the outer coating. "what!?"

Sonic angrily shouted as he punched and punched at the mighty dragon.

The dragon's mighty fist came down, punching him away without so much

as a sweat. "Hahaha! foolish hedgehog, I have made this specifically to

stand up to your super form!" the maniac doctor boasted, letting his beast

roar with its own laughter. Sonic lost focus, his eyes dilating and rolling

around uselessly in their sockets. "Sonic..." the word floated through his

mind like carried on a light breeze. "sonic!" it yelled again, this time

louder, sonic turned to see shadow. "Use the potion!" shadow said,

chucking his potion at Sonic. Sonic grabbed it, drinking it with his own. A

huge surge went through him, he glew even brighter, and suddenly burst

into a multitude of flashing colors. "so eggman, did you build it to handle

hyper form?" sonic asked. The dragon quit laughing, realising what he

had let happened. Sonic blast forward with unbelievable speed. The

dragon lashed an arm, only for sonic to rip through it with no problem.

Sonic blast through the emerald core of the dragon, ripping it in two. It

fell lifeless to the ground in a ball of smoke and flame. Eggmans

signature ship came out flying out above them. "you!" he shouted at

blade. "you told me sonic was dead!" he yelled furiously. "he was" blade

said simply. "it was your bad call to pay me without checking for yourself"

blade said with a shrug. Eggman fumed, and flew off into the distance.

sonic landed by blade, shadow and knuckles ran up to them quickly. "so

then... you going after him?" sonic asked powering down. "after him?"

blade mused to himself, lightly stroking his chin. "OH CRAP!" blade

shouted "I totally forgot to kill him..." he said slightly dissapointed in

himself. "who hired you to kill him anyway?" sonic asked. "classified stuff,

can't say a word" Blade said wagging a finger. He looked at the

destroyed, rubbled remains of the colliseum. "well, looks like you guys

have some fun to attend to, I'll be off" blade said begining to walk. "but

who knows, maybe our paths will meet again" blade said. "see ya then"

sonic called after him.

Prolouge

Sonic knuckles and shadow had thwarted eggman once again, returning

home to enjoy the splendors of victory, the news picked up sonics newest

conquest quickly and it was all over by the end of the week. Shadow had

gained an apprentice in the black robed man, knuckles went right back to

his position where he belonged protecting the master emerald. Where

sonic went, who knows, but he was probably enjoying himself

Far off a red hedgehog played a violin overlooking the sea shore. "you're

late" the hedgehog said as a mighty looking man came out. He wore a

suit, with tie, blade smirked at this. "and you didn't do your mission, why

have you called me here?" the man asked. "funny you should ask, I was

just thinking of someone else who may get in your way" Blade said

casually. "who might that be?" the suited man asked. "sonic the

hedgehog" blade said. "interesting...I will look into it" The man said. He

pulled out a small roll of money and handed it into blades outstretched

hand. "i very much suggest you do...he has power like i've never seen,

best be careful" blade warned. "arn't i always?" the man asked. "you talk

as though i know you" blade said, placing his violin back into its case. "oh

come now, i'm sure you'll warm up to me soon" the man said. "don't

assume things with me...that never turns out well" blade said. he got up

and walked off, leaving the man standing at the beach.

I remember when I wrote this i thought that final battle could have actually been done in a videogame...anyhow, you won't see the man again till the 3rd book, cause the 2nd is all about blades backstory...sorry for the super huge cliff-hanger!

The Beginning of the end: The history of Blade Astaros

Prologue: One born from lightning.

A bolt of lightning lit up the small city of Kairos. Sheets of rain

buffeted its tile streets lined with lichen and moss. It was a simple town,

Made mostly of small cozy houses, now closed tight to protect themselves

from the thrumming rain. A small building, slightly larger than a house,

and in Japanese style, with curved roof and rice paper door was lit

warmly by a small hearth fire. Inside a Silver wolf, yellow eyes gleaming

with wisdom, and fur well groomed, was watching a kettle hanging over

the fire. A light wind pushed against the house, a soft whistling picked up

and hummed throughout his home. The wolf hummed as his kettle began

to whistle with the wind outside in a harmonious noise that anyone other

than the wolf would have considered annoying beyond belief.

The wolf picked the kettle off the wood stake that held it, slowly tipping it

into a ceramic cup by his side. He smiled gently as he blew the steam off

the top of the cup, watching it swirl and fade into nothingness. He drank

slowly, savoring the herbal tea of his own brew. A loud crack of lightning

caused him to open one eye lazily. ‘That sounded a might bit close’ the

wolf mused to himself. He gently placed the cup down on its plate with no

more noise than a mouse squeaking. He got up slowly, and sighed,

turning to his door. He walked over; another bolt of lightning struck the

ground with a sharp crack.

The door opened with a small shudder, and the wolf’s eyes

widened at what he was witnessing. In front of his large house the

babbling and peaceful fountain, the centerpiece of the town, was

overflowing with a water-like figure. The wolf glanced to the sky, he could

swear there was an echidna standing there, holding huge bolts of

lightning and throwing them down at the liquid beast.

The wolf eyed the situation, glued to the spot with curiosity and

apprehension. He watched in horror as the liquid creature dodged and

snaked around each bolt of lightning, absorbing more and more water it

grew larger and larger, threatening to break the towns precious fountain

with its weight. The liquid creature lunged at the giant cloud the echidna

rode, only to be struck down by a bolt of lightning. It spewed out of the

fountain, washing across the tile ground in a giant puddle. The puddle

began to pool together though, and the creature came back up in all of its

full fury.

“This is a battle of the gods…” The wolf slowly realized, saying it aloud

before he could get a hold on his mouth. The wolf watched on, noting the

liquid creature to be the god chaos, although he could not place the god

of lightning whom the creature faced. The wolf slowly crept back inside,

sweat forming on his brow as worries of being spotted crawled into his

mind like worms burrowing into the dirt. The wolf bounded across the

large padded floor in a few leaps, spilling his tea onto the ground with a

light hiss, he grabbed his trusty sword, a Black hilted sword, the blade a

cross between a short sword and a katana, a green emerald encrusted

the pommel.

The wolf stepped back outside, he had been thinking which one to help

the entire time, but he knew only darkness and evil to come from chaos,

so he had decided to help the mysterious red echidna. He raised his blade

to Chaos, who paid him no attention as he dodged bolt after bolt of

lightning. The wolf sprung into the air, slicing through Chaos’s arm, it fell

to the ground with a loud ploosh. Chaos turned his emerald eyes to the

landing wolf, and smashed him in the back with his intact hand, sending

him careening into the shrubs that outlined the village. Outside the

shrubbery a huge forest expanded miles around the village, and a large

mountain on its north side hid it from view of anyone else, the wolf could

understand how the two warring gods had accidentally stumbled upon it.

The wolf got up on one knee, he felt an energy surge throughout his

body, and a green aura formed around him. He launched back up, high

into the air and swung his sword mightily through chaos’s neck. Chaos

instantly splashed to the ground in a large puddle. By the time the wolf

had turned around Chaos was already reformed and baring its teeth. The

wolf braced himself, drawing his sword up. A bolt of lightning suddenly

flew down, catching the occupied chaos off guard and sent him hurdling to

the ground a mighty inhuman shriek rang throughout the town.

The wolf looked to the god astride his mighty storm cloud, the echidna

nodded, sending a bolt of lightning to the wolf’s sword. The wolf smirked

devilishly running forward, his blade dragging along the ground, sparking

heavily with the bolt’s energy. The wolf hurled himself at Chaos as he

picked himself up. Chaos turned just in time for the blade to split his skull

in two, and send him flying back to the ground, breaking the tiles he

landed on as he solidified. The glow faded slowly from the wolf’s sword.

The wolf looked to the sky at the echidna, who was stroking his chin

lightly. It seemed like an hour as the echidna stared down at the

wolf. “You deserve a reward for your great deed in locking chaos away”

the echidna finally said. The wolf’s eyes flew open, ‘a gift from a god,

what great fortune I must have!’ he thought to himself.

The god lifted his hand. “Astaros, I know what it is you truly desire, but

cannot have!” the god said. The wolf, Astaros, smiled wide as he heard

these words. A great bolt of lightning formed above the god’s hand. He

threw it to the ground in a brilliant explosion, and there on the spot the

lightning had landed was a infant, a red hedgehog who wailed into the

night. A small tear formed in Astaros’s eye, because of events in his past,

he could not have children, but now he had his own son, and as a bonus

he had someone who would help spread the word of his dojo, and his

fighting style. Astaros thanked the god, took his newfound son, and ran

inside his home. The go smiled, and in a flash returned to his kingdom in

the stars. “So, who volunteered to be that wonderful swordsman’s son?”

he asked his angels as he walked through the shining doors to his palace.

All the angels stepped aside, revealing an empty cage, the kind of cage

small black deathly cage they used to wheel angels who had blasphemed

against god to the underworld. “Oh me…a fallen, that poor man got a

fallen” he said aloud. “Well, with luck his mortality and upbringing may

set him on a different path than he followed here” the god spoke softly to

himself. He swished a hand, a small portal formed, from which the

echidna could see the father and son hugging peacefully. “Well at least

things seem good…” the god said, only fearing for the worse.
